What Yodelope does with your child's voice
Yodelope listens to your child sing in order to show whether they're on pitch. That listening happens entirely on your device, as it happens. The audio is never written to storage, never sent to us, and never sent to anyone else. When your child stops singing, it's gone.
Sound goes into the phone, and stops there.
No file is ever written. No network request is ever made with it. There is no "delete after" step, because nothing is ever saved to begin with.
What we don't collect
- No name — your child's in-app name comes from a word list ("Sparkle Otter," "Brave Comet"); children never type anything.
- No email address, from a child.
- No photos. The app has no camera access.
- No location.
- No contacts.
We do not sell personal data, sensitive personal data, or biometric data, and we never will. Full detail: privacy policy · children's privacy notice.
No ads, ever
No advertising SDKs of any kind. No third-party analytics. No tracking.
No chat, no other players
There is no way for anyone — another child, an adult, a stranger — to contact your child through this app. There's no chat, no messaging, no visible profile, and no leaderboard with other players' names on it.
How money works
Coins are earned only by singing — there is no way to buy coins with real money, at any price, for any reason. When a child doesn't have enough coins for something, the app sends them back to singing, not to a store.
The app is free to download and includes a starter set of songs. Additional song packs are one-time purchases. There are no subscriptions and no ads.
Additional song packs, if offered, can only be bought by a parent, and every purchase sits behind a parental gate — not a puzzle a curious child could solve, but a press-and-hold, drag-to-target gesture built for an adult's hand.
The parental gate, in short
Shown before purchases, external links, the microphone permission prompt, and the Grown-Ups Zone. Press and hold a button for three seconds while dragging it along a track — not arithmetic, which a seven-year-old can already do.
Age rating and app-store controls
Yodelope is designed and rated for children under 13. Apple and Google both operate age-rating and parental-approval systems at the app-store level — for example, Texas's App Store Accountability Act now has both stores sharing age-category and parental-approval signals with developers for Texas accounts. Yodelope uses those signals rather than building a separate, weaker system of its own. Yodelope has not yet been submitted to the App Store or Google Play. Its age rating and Texas app-store age category will be published here when assigned.
Screen time
Songs run two to three minutes. There are no streaks to keep, no daily login rewards, and no timers designed to pull a child back in. When a session ends, it just ends — Yodelope isn't built to make that hard.
Age appropriateness
Yodelope's songs cover categories like animals, bedtime, counting, and silly songs — nothing in the catalog is written for an older audience. Feedback never uses words like "wrong" or "fail"; a missed note gets a softer retry, not a red X. Nothing a child chooses in the app — including declining something — is ever colored to look like a mistake.
