Privacy policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026 Effective date: September 16, 2026
This privacy policy is effective as of September 16, 2026. See /for-parents for the plain-language version.

Summary in plain language

  • Yodelope listens to your child sing so it can show whether they're on pitch. That happens entirely on your device — the audio is never written to storage, never sent to us, and never sent to anyone else.
  • We do not collect your child's name, email, photo, location, or contacts. Singer names come from a pre-written word list; children never type anything.
  • We don't sell personal data, sensitive personal data, or biometric data, and we never will.
  • There are no ads, no third-party analytics, and no way for anyone to contact your child through the app.
  • You can review, refuse further collection of, or request deletion of anything we do hold — see "Your rights" below.

Who operates Yodelope

Yodelope is made by Spindlecode, LLC ("Spindlecode," "we," "us"). Spindlecode, LLC is the sole operator of Yodelope; this notice covers the Yodelope app and the yodelope.com website. Yodelope is available in the United States only.

Voice and audio processing

Yodelope listens to your child sing in order to show whether they are on pitch. That listening happens entirely on your device, as it happens. The audio is never written to storage, never sent to us, and never sent to anyone else. When your child stops singing, it is gone.

This is an architectural property, not a policy we could quietly change: the part of the app that listens to the microphone has no code path that writes a file or opens a network connection. We say this precisely because we mean it precisely — we are not telling you "we don't store your data" as a blanket claim, we are telling you the specific thing we don't do and why we can promise it.

Under U.S. law, an audio recording of a child's voice — and a voiceprint derived from one — counts as personal information, whether or not a name is attached. Because Yodelope never creates that recording in the first place, there is nothing of that kind for us to collect, store, or disclose.

What we collect and don't collect

We don't collect

  • Your child's name — the singer name is picked from a pre-written adjective + noun word list ("Sparkle Otter," "Brave Comet"); children never type free text anywhere in the app.
  • Email address, phone number, or any other contact information from a child.
  • Photos, video, or camera access.
  • Precise or approximate location.
  • Contacts, calendar, or any other device data unrelated to gameplay.
  • Voice recordings or voiceprints — see "Voice and audio processing" above.

We may collect, from a parent

  • Purchase records for song packs, handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we receive confirmation that a purchase happened, not your payment details.
  • Support correspondence, if a parent emails us.

Stored only on the device

  • Gameplay progress: songs sung, mastery, coins earned, stickers.
  • Avatar and wardrobe choices.
  • Up to four child profiles per device, each with a singer name, Range Buddy, and coin balance.
  • Vocal range calibration result (which Range Buddy a child matched).

None of the device-stored data above is transmitted to Spindlecode. It stays on the device unless the parent backs up or transfers the device through the operating system's own mechanisms, which we do not control.

Data practices at a glance

This table is written to mirror Google Play's Data Safety categories one-to-one, so it can be checked line-by-line against our store listing. A mismatch between this table and our Data Safety form or App Privacy nutrition label would be an error — please tell us if you spot one.

Sharing and sale of data

We do not sell personal data, sensitive personal data, or biometric data, and we never will.

We do not disclose your child's personal information to any third party for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than what's necessary to run the app — for example, the app stores' own purchase processing. If that ever changes, we will seek separate, specific parental consent for that disclosure before it happens; consenting to this notice does not cover it in advance.

We do not condition a child's ability to play Yodelope on disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for the activity.

Your rights as a parent

You can review what we hold about your child, refuse to let us collect more, and ask us to delete it, at any time and free of charge.

  • Gameplay data lives on the device. Delete a child's profile from Grown-Ups Zone → Profiles, or delete the app, to remove it.
  • Anything held by Spindlecode — a support email thread or purchase records — can be reviewed or deleted by contacting us at contact@yodelope.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep a written, published retention policy at /privacy/retention, stating what we keep, why, and for how long. We do not retain data indefinitely.

Age rating and app-store controls

Details on Yodelope's age rating and what the app stores show a parent at download and purchase live on /for-parents and in our terms of use.

Your rights by state

Comprehensive state privacy laws (like California's CCPA/CPRA) generally carry revenue or volume thresholds that Spindlecode does not currently meet. Texas has no such threshold for its own law (the TDPSA); see the entry below. This section will grow as our footprint or the law changes, without needing a redesign of this page.

Texas

Spindlecode, LLC is a Texas limited liability company. Under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), small businesses meeting SBA size standards are exempt from most obligations — Spindlecode qualifies. The one exception that survives the exemption is a bar on selling sensitive personal data (which includes children's data and biometric identifiers) without consent. We do not sell data, so this does not apply to us — and we are not posting the statutory "we may sell your data" notices some companies must show, because doing so when it isn't true would be misleading.

Texas's App Store Accountability Act (SB 2420) governs age ratings and app-store parental-approval signals; see /for-parents for what that means in practice.

California

Spindlecode does not currently meet the thresholds that make CCPA/CPRA applicable, and does not sell or share personal information. If that changes, this notice will be updated.

All other states

Spindlecode monitors state app-store-accountability laws and will update this notice as they take effect.

If you are outside the United States

Yodelope is designed and offered for United States users only. We have not built Yodelope to meet GDPR or the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and if we are not ready for those obligations at launch, we will say so plainly here rather than let availability speak for itself.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change affects how we handle existing data, call it out clearly rather than bury it in a version bump.
