Children's privacy notice

Last updated: September 16, 2026 Effective date: September 16, 2026
This notice is effective as of September 16, 2026. See the full privacy policy for the complete picture; this page exists as a standalone notice because the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires one.

Summary in plain language

  • This is the notice COPPA requires us to give parents about a child-directed app. It is short on purpose.
  • Yodelope listens to your child sing to check their pitch. That happens on the device only — the audio is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
  • We don't collect your child's name, email, photo, location, or contacts.
  • You can review, refuse further collection of, or delete anything we hold — see "Your rights" below.

Who this notice is for

Yodelope is a game directed at children ages 4–9. Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA, 16 C.F.R. Part 312), operators of child-directed services must give parents a clear notice of their data practices. This page is that notice. It is written for parents, not for children — nothing on this page is meant for a child to read.

Operator identity and contact

Spindlecode, LLC is the sole operator of Yodelope.

What personal information we collect

Under the amended COPPA rule, "personal information" includes an audio recording of a child's voice and biometric identifiers such as voiceprints, even with no name attached. Here is exactly where Yodelope stands on each category COPPA covers:

CategoryCollected from your child?
Voice audio / voiceprintNo. Processed on-device in real time to score pitch, never written to storage or transmitted. See "How it's collected" below.
First and last nameNo. The in-app "singer name" is chosen from a pre-written word list (e.g. "Sparkle Otter"); children never type free text.
Email address, phone numberNo.
Home address or geolocationNo.
Photo, video, or screen recording of the childNo. The app has no camera access.
Persistent identifier used to recognize a user over time or across services (e.g. for behavioral advertising)No. Yodelope contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

How it's collected

It isn't. Yodelope does not actively solicit any personal information from a child, and the app's microphone input — the one place a child's voice reaches the software at all — is processed in memory, on the device, and discarded the instant the note passes. There is no passive tracking, no background collection, and no code path in the audio pipeline that writes a file or opens a network connection.

How it's used

Because we don't collect personal information from your child, there is nothing of that kind for us to use. The live pitch signal is used, in the instant it exists, only to move the on-screen feedback (the pitch dot and lyric highlighting) — and then it is gone.

Whether and to whom it's disclosed

We do not disclose any personal information collected from your child to any third party, because we do not collect any. If a future version of Yodelope were to introduce a feature that discloses a child's information to a third party for something beyond running the app itself, we would seek separate, specific parental consent for that disclosure before building it — not fold it into a policy update.

Your rights as a parent

You always have the right to:

  • Review the personal information, if any, we have collected from your child.
  • Refuse to permit our further collection or use of your child's information.
  • Request deletion of your child's personal information.

How to exercise each of these:

  • Gameplay data (avatar, coins, progress) lives only on the device. Delete a profile from Grown-Ups Zone → Profiles, or uninstall the app, to remove it completely.
  • For anything you believe Spindlecode holds directly, contact us at contact@yodelope.com. We will respond within 30 days and confirm what we found, or confirm we hold nothing.

We never condition play on extra data

We will never require your child to disclose more personal information than is reasonably necessary to play the game, as a condition of participating.

Retention

See our separate data retention policy for what we keep, why, and for how long.
