Yodelope's launch catalog is being built from public-domain songs with our own recordings, plus original songs written for the app — never from unlicensed community files. TODO(product): specific song titles aren't finalized yet (open-decisions.md D-021 targets 12–20 songs for v1) — this page describes the categories and mechanics, not a track list, until that's settled.

Difficulty
Each song shows a simple 1–3 rating, drawn as antelope-horn icons instead of numbers — a picture a non-reader can compare at a glance.
Mastery ring
A gold ring fills in around a song's cover art as a child earns more of its available coins. A full gold ring means the song is perfected — but there's no penalty for stopping short.

Every song can be previewed for fifteen seconds before singing — melody only, no scoring, no pressure to commit.
Where the songs come from.
Public domain, or ours
A karaoke app that shows synced lyrics needs proper synchronization and reprint rights, not just a mechanical license — displaying lyrics in time with music is its own licensed use. Yodelope's catalog is built from public-domain compositions paired with our own recordings, and original songs written for the app, so we hold the rights we need outright. Nothing is sourced from community karaoke-file archives, which are not legally cleared for redistribution.
